The teaching and learning centers of Broome, Corning, Onondaga and Tompkins Cortland Community Colleges, the SUNY Center for Professional Development (SUNY CPD), and the Institute for Community College Development (ICCD) invite you to the Successful Teaching Conference 2009. During this conference full and part-time community college faculty will share their expertise and offer innovative teaching techniques in the areas of active learning, student learning assessment and integrating technology.
Keynote Speaker: Melissa Wanzer, Ed. D., Canisius College, will present “Turning Pain into Pleasure: The Intrapersonal and Interpersonal Benefits of Humor.” Melissa is Professor in the Communications Studies Department where she teaches graduate seminars in interpersonal communication and persuasion and undergraduate courses in health communication, family communication, interpersonal communication, gender and constructive uses of humor. Fee: $95 includes a continental breakfast and lunch. Add $5 to your $95 registration fee if you plan to attend The Lucky Ducks informal social on Thursday evening.
A block of rooms has been reserved at the hotel under the title of Successful Teaching Conference. Please make your reservations direct with the hotel by calling 607-962-5000 before October 1, 2009. Hotel charges are not included in the conference registration fee.
