FTR Mission

Faculty Technology Resources coordinates instructional technology resources and services for the University at Albany teaching community; providing a holistic approach to accessing teaching with technology tools.

The University at Albany is committed to providing faculty with the tools needed to incorporate technology into their instruction and to that end offers an array of instructional technology services.  This web site provides a comprehensive list of teaching with technology resources and services available at UAlbany including technology workshops, web building resources and help services.

Faculty Peer Mentoring Workshop
September 12, 2008, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
SUNY Center for Professional Development, East Syracuse, NY

Program Objectives:

See education as a key set of processes and understand how the key processes of learning(using different learning theories), teaching (facilitation of learning), mentoring (facilitation of growth), curriculum design, and assessment all integrate into producing quality faculty, staff, and student growth and development outcomes through a productive learning and growth environment. 

  • Adapt at least five new learning tools or techniques into current faculty and staff practices, based upon current research on learning and growth related to mentoring.
  • Learn the difference between assessment and evaluation and how to improve assessment systems to improve effectiveness of mentoring.
  • Gain more assessment skills and learn how to incorporate more self-assessment techniques to help mentees to develop more meta-cognitive skills.
  • Learn the difference between managing and mentoring and increase desire to do more mentoring of your peers, which includes motivating them based upon their learning plan and special learning needs and styles.

The Department Chair Institute: Developing Your Academic Leadership
September 29 - October 1, 2008, 9:00 am - 4:30 pm each day
Rockland Community College, Suffern, NY

The Department Chair institute is a short, hands-on, 'nuts and bolts' session that is designed for new or experienced first-level academic leaders. Participants will explore ways of leading and managing academic departments.
