Wireless Network

The University's wireless network Wi-UAlbany (UA_WPA) provides encrypted, secure access to the Internet for students, faculty and staff on all three campuses. All University networks are provided and maintained exclusively for the campus. As such, wireless connections can only be secured by the University community or sponsored guests. The University wireless networks should not be used to transmit sensitive information.

Request Installation of a Wireless Access Point
To have a wireless access point installed, fax a completed request form to the Telecommunications Service Center at (518) 437-3800 or return it to MSC 209.

Guest Access
The UA Guest network provides open, unencrypted access to the Internet for visitors who are conducting University business and are sponsored by an office, faculty or staff member. University hosts should visit the MyUAlbany employee portal home page for information on obtaining guest access. They should also consult with their Technology Coordinator well in advance of hosting guests for information on support. Guests must comply with all applicable University policies and procedures, including Connecting Devices to the University Network and Responsible Use of Information Technology.
