BLS Training and Workshops

Faculty Technology Resources (FTR) offers a variety of learning experiences to help UAlbany faculty members learn to use BLS and develop their courses.

Online self-paced training:

  • Designing Your Course (Basic Training for Designers and Instructors):  You are introduced to the design skills necessary to create effective, engaging online courses. Through interactive tutorials, structured activities, examples, and discussions, you gain experience with key design tools and features as well as complete some preliminary planning for your actual course. A variety of tools are used to build and organize a practice course.

  • Creating and Managing Assignments and Assessments:  Through hands-on activities, and applied exercises, workshop participants will learn to create and manage a variety of assessments and assignments that are appropriate for their course.

Contact FTR at through the ITS Service Desk to enroll yourself, co-instructors, or TAs in BLS online training.  Please include the Net ID for TAs in the request.

Face-to-Face Workshops

"Quick Start" sessions are designed to provide faculty with a brief introduction into Blackboard Learning System.  The time will include an overview of key features as well as an opportunity to ask questions.  Faculty are encouraged to review the online training course prior to participating in a "Quick Start" session.  If you have not been enrolled in the online training, please contact FTR through the ITS Service Desk.
