Attention: Apple iLife users, System Administrators, Desktop Support Personnel.

Summary: Apple has acknowledged a trio of security vulnerabilities in its iLife and Aperture creativity software products.  Each of the vulnerabilities involve the viewing of maliciously-crafted image files and could (if successfully exploited) result in takeover of a vulnerable system.  Apple has released a software update (iLife Support 8.3.1) to address these vulnerabilities and also to provide some stability and functional improvements.

Recommended Actions:  iLife and Aperture users are encouraged to apply the iLife support update as soon as possible.  Users should use extreme caution when handling TIFF and JPEG images until the iLife update has been installed.
