Attention: Adobe Reader/Acrobat users, System Administrators, Desktop Support Personnel.

Summary: On November 4 2008 Adobe systems inc released a security bulletin detailing two critical security vulnerabilities in version 8 of its popular Reader and Acrobat products.  According to the vendor, Successful exploitation of either vulnerability could result in complete takeover of a vulnerable computer. 

Recommended Actions:  Adobe recommends updating to version 9 of Reader or Acrobat if possible, as version 9 is not vulnerable to these issues.  For users that cannot update to version 9, Adobe has made available an update (version 8.1.3) which fixes these vulnerabilities.  Adobe users and support personnel are encouraged to read the security advisory and to follow the appropriate update procedures as soon as possible.
