Summary:  On December 13 2005 Microsoft sent notice of two new security bulletins (MS05-054 and MS04-055).  MS05-054 is a cumulative update for Internet explorer and is listed by Microsoft as "Critical
Severity";  MS05-055 is an update for the Windows Kernel that is listed as "Important".

Recommended Actions:  Windows System Administrators and other Support Personnel are encouraged to read Security Bulletins MS05-054 and MS05-055 and (if appropriate) apply the patches immediately as per the
instructions detailed in the bulletins.  Please NOTE that bulletin MS05-054 lists some caveats associated with the installation of its security update.

ITS Actions:  ITS Systems Management and Operations Staff will apply the patches to the appropriate ITS servers as part of the next scheduled system update.
