- You must be a member of the University community to download and install this software.
- This software is for computers running Microsoft Windows.
Installing the SSH software will enable you to telnet and ftp using a secure, encrypted connection.
Once the software has been installed, click on Start -> Programs -> SSH Secure Shell -> Secure Shell Client to use telnet or Secure File Transfer Client to use ftp.
Secure Shell Client
You will be presented with a screen:
Click on "Quick Connect" to generate a login screen:
To connect to the University's UNIX cluster, enter itsunix.albany.edu for Host Name.
Enter your University netid for User Name.
Click Connect.
You will be prompted for your password.
and click Add to Profiles.
The next time you use the software, you can click on Profiles instead of Quick Connect and select "mylogin" (or whatever you called your profile).
Secure File Transfer Client
You will be presented with a screen:
Click on "Quick Connect" to generate a login screen:
To connect to the University's UNIX cluster, enter itsunix.albany.edu for Host Name.
Enter your University netid for User Name.
Click Connect.
You will be prompted for your password.
You will be given an opportunity to save this connection entry (Host Name and User Name) by entering a name when you see a small box that looks like:
and click Add to Profiles.
The next time you use the software, you can click on Profiles instead of Quick Connect and select "mylogin" (or whatever you called your profile).
Your computer's files are listed in the window on the left side and your UNIX files are listed in the window on the right side. Transfer files by dragging them from one window to the other.
Forgot your password? Use the password set/reset application.
