As one high-tech executive put it, “Information made meaningful is knowledge.”
Of the three CCI departments, Information Studies is the one that puts the most emphasis on the end-user of information. We offer a great variety of undergraduate and graduate courses to permit each student to design a program of studies that best prepares him for a successful career in the information field.
Students learn how information is created, stored, organized, applied and preserved in order to meet the needs of individual and organizational users. Our courses help them master the complex relationship between people, information and technology.
Throughout its history, UAlbany has stayed at the forefront of Information Studies, helping students to advance their careers and earn leadership roles in the profession. As the information environment evolves, we will continue to evolve to meet new challenges, while embracing and honoring our rich history.
