Carla Meskill

Carla Meskill is Associate Professor, Department of Educational Theory and Practice, at the University at Albany. Her research and teaching explores new forms of technology use in language education. Her area of specialization is in Computer Assisted Language Learning, the design and evaluation of multimedia language teaching environments, and the use of media in language classrooms. Dr. Meskill is the director of Technology Assisted Language Learning (TALL) project and Language Advocacy Project (LAP). Dr. Meskill is also the co-editor of MERLOT world Languages.
 
Fall 2005 Courses

ETAP 638 - Media Literacy
This is an SLN, fully online course and focuses on developing an informed and critical understanding of new communication media, including ways to read and write electronic texts. Explores implications of these technologies and their uses in schools, communities, and workplaces. Focuses on practices involving cutting-edge technologies that hold promise for the teaching of writing, language and literature.
 
ETAP 723 - Seminar in Technology and Education
This course examines topical issues and current research related to technology and education. Full participation including work on an individual or group project required. Special seminars in media, video and computing will be available on a rotating basis. Students may register for one semester of each.
