About

Haesol Bae is assistant professor in the Department of Educational Theory and Practice. She joined the University at Albany faculty in 2023. Dr. Bae focuses on how students learn by engaging in solving complex problems and how technology can support this learning process. Specifically, Dr. Bae is interested in how teachers can play a central role in supporting students while utilizing emerging educational technology, such as AI. Currently, she is involved in two projects. The first project involves designing and developing a cognitive orchestration assistant for collaborative problem-solving in a narrative-centered, game-based learning environment. The second project revolves around co-designing an AI curriculum for rural middle schoolers, with a focus on how AI impacts students' lives and the ethical considerations surrounding AI. She is collaborating with K-12 teachers on this initiative.
