SAMARITANS SUICIDE PREVENTION CENTER AND CRISIS HOTLINE

The Samaritans Suicide Prevention Center and Crisis Hotline logo
The Samaritans is a not-for-profit suicide prevention center that has been in existence in the Capital Region since 1985. As a chapter of Befrienders International, The Samaritans offer four programs, free-of-charge: a confidential suicide and crisis hotline, community prevention education programs, support groups for people who have lost loved ones to suicide and community postvention. We welcome UAlbany students in any of these capacities. Volunteering with The Samaritans requires being a good listener. The 21-hour training program strengthens the abilities of volunteers and their preparation as a crisis volunteer.
Students choosing to volunteer as a Samaritan can truly make a difference between life and death for others who seek help.
