NYS Public Health Association (NYSPHA)
The purpose of NYSPHA is to protect public health in New York State. Reviewing
and advocating for stronger legislation/regulation in New York State is key
in meeting this objective. Interns assist the NYSPHA office by becoming involved
in this process as advocates.
We are also attempting to build our membership. Membership information is kept
on Microsoft Access. Students with strong computer and web skills can assist
with this process.
Each internship is molded toward the student's individual career needs. If the
student were interested in a health career, the internship would be more health
oriented. If the student were interested in a business career, the internship
would be more computer oriented. Our office started a web page last years, which
has been almost entirely student run. Our internships are ideal for political
science, health, sociology, social welfare, business and premed majors.
The student will be supervised by the Coordinator and by the President of
the Board. When the student has demonstrated strong office skills, s/he will
be allowed to work mostly unsupervised.
Questions are welcome.
