Ms. Alvarado-Little is the Director of the Community Outreach and Dissemination Core and the Program Manager for the Administrative Core at the University at Albany’s Center for the Elimination of Minority Health Disparities. She is a founding member of the Association of Medical Interpreters of New York (AMINY) and also serves on the Multicultural Advisory Board for the State of New York Office of Mental Health. A medical interpreter and trainer with over twenty years of experience in the health care field, she is the co-chair of the Board for the National Council on Interpreting in Health Care, serves on the Board of Directors for the Chicago Area Interpreter Referral Service, and is a member of the Expert Panel for the Department of Health and Human Services Health Care Language Services Implementation Guide. Ms. Alvarado-Little provides education to health care institutions on the implementation of hospital and community-based interpreter programs and the importance of the role of the trained medical interpreter.
Currently residing in New York, Wilma dedicates her time to the issues of language access for the limited English speaking population nationwide.
