Graduation and Application for Award of the Degree

Due to the varying pace and individuality of many of the University’s graduate programs, students entering the expected final term of study for a degree must submit a degree award application to become degree candidates.

 

This degree award application stimulates audits of the student academic record for degree clearance purposes, serves as the basis for the ordering of diplomas by the Registrar and identifies the student for Commencement communication and information purposes. The degree award application should be submitted via the MyUAlbany web portal at the beginning of the anticipated degree award semester within the time parameters set within the academic calendar for that term. Establishing degree candidacy by submitting a degree award application will cause the student to become eligible to participate in one or more of the University’s Commencement ceremonies and/or activities.
