- VICE PRESIDENT SELECTIONS -- With the primary season now over, democrats and republicans are turning their attention to who will join Barack Obama and John McCain on the national tickets. Eighteen million supports wonder if Hillary Clinton will get the nod. Republicans are wondering if the "maverick" McCain will reach across the isle and ask Joe Lieberman to be his running mate. Assistant professor Jennifer Stromer-Galley teaches on Presidential campaigns and deliberative democracy. She is an expert on public opinion and can discuss what outside factors may contribute to who is ultimately selected as the vice presidential nominees.
- THE GENERAL ELECTION -- With only five months to go before the general election, the top candidates are hoping to fill their campaign coffers in preparation for the battle for the White House. Professor of political science Michael J. Malbin specializes in campaigns and elections (especially the role of money in politics) as well as the politics of the U.S. Congress. He teaches the University at Albany's Semester in Washington and is executive director of the Campaign Finance Institute, an independent non-partisan think tank in Washington D.C.
