Stanley Fink Legislative Intern Named

(December 9, 2005)

The Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Studies has announced that Lauren Mendolera will be the recipient of the Stanley Fink Legislative Internship for the Spring 2006 semester.

Supported by an initial grant from the Bell-Atlantic Foundation, the University at Albany established a legislative internship in memory of the late Stanley Fink, former speaker of the New York State Assembly. To be eligible for the internship, a student must meet the academic requirements for the Dean's List and have earned at least 56 academic credits at the University at Albany and be accepted into the New York State Assembly Internship Program.

Mendolera, of Elma, N.Y., is an English (honors) major and a business minor. Her grade point average is 3.94. Some of her academic achievements include four semesters on the Dean's List, the Presidential Scholars Program, and the International Mission on Diplomacy: Brazil.

While at the University, Mendolera has participated in the National and Eastern Conference Moot Court competitions 2003-2004; volunteered on the crisis hotline from 2004 to the present; and has been a teaching assistant in the Presidential Scholars Program.

Her other experiences include working at a law office in Buffalo, N.Y., and working at the New York State Attorney General's Office in the Bureau of Consumer Frauds and Protection.

Her plans include attending law school with an emphasis on business law.
