Four UAlbany graduate students are among 63 promising art students whose work is on display at the 2004 Best of SUNY Student Art Exhibition through September 24 at State University Plaza in Albany.

Ingrid Ludt, Sergio Sericolo, Mark Tiernan, and Val Tran are all enrolled in UAlbanys master of fine arts program.

State University of New York Chancellor Robert King praised the work of the students for its considerable power and mastery. Through it, we can see the energy and vitality of our students. This years art exhibitions at State University Plaza have allowed us to bring the work of our many talented students to a wider audience.

In all, participants represented 25 SUNY campuses. Six of the student artists were awarded scholarships recognizing their work. For their Best in Show entries, Jake Rowland from the State University College at Buffalo and Rory Coyne from the College at Fredonia each received a $1,000 scholarship. Honorable Mention $500 scholarships went to James Ryan of the College at Plattsburgh; Ian Hoffman of the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University; Kenneth Park of the Fashion Institute of Technology; and Steve Miller of SUNY Geneseo.

The exhibition, which is on display in the hallways of State University Plaza in downtown Albanys historic D&H Railway Building, is free and open to the public.
