As university scholars and researchers we continually monitor our own accomplishments and share what we have learned with colleagues from around the world. This "Reflective Practice" is a key element of our disciplinary work. The Scholarship of Teaching movement poses the question, "Shouldn't we reflect on all elements of our professional and scholarly practice, including teaching, in the same way?" And shouldn't we value the "scholarship of teaching" the same way that we value the scholarship of "discovery" and the scholarship of "application," as promoted by Ernest Boyer in his 1990 work, Scholarship Reconsidered.
