Help with using Media & Technology
Audio Visual Services
The Faculty Technology Resources office maintains an inventory of Audio-Visual equipment that is commonly requested for classroom use. This includes overhead transparency projectors, slide projectors, VCR/DVD/Monitors and computer carts. Find out more by visiting the AVS site. Also check with your department to see if they have some of this equipment locally available for your use.
The Blackboard Learning System (BLS) is the online course management system software package currently in use here at UAlbany. Features include individual authentication, grade posting, discussion boards, course e-mail, online assessment, assignment upload for students, interactive chat, and course content modules for lecture notes and slides. BLS requires minimal technical expertise on the part of the course developer, and on the part of the student. Blackboard can be used to supplement your face-to-face classes, create blended classes, or to support online courses here at the university.

Faculty Information Technology Services (ITS)
The Faculty ITS site provides instructors with an overview of and access to the technological support and resources available to them as they engage in university life. This site provides support for questions on email, hardware, software, classroom technology, and your university account, as well as providing workshops to help familiarize yourself with the many technological resources available to you as a member of the UAlbany instructional staff.
Interactive Media Center
The Interactive Media Center, located in the basement of the University Library, offers classes in how to use it's extensive technology in digital photo, video, and sound editing, as well as web-building tools. The IMC offers a variety of classes that you may wish to recommend to your students as they work on multi-media projects. Additionally, the IMC provides a variety of downloadable handouts and online tutorials on using popular software for multi-media projects.
ITLAL Media Services
ITLAL media services offers some special resources for instructors at UAlbany. We can digitize materials from a variety of sound and video formats to help you include them in your courses, stream them, or post them to a course website. We can also create electronic images of slides and text documents for your courses
ITLAL Technology Services
ITLAL technology services provides information and resources on using the technology available to help you teach better. This includes resources on Blackboard, Clickers, using Wikis, and creating digital web portfolios, among others.
Faculty members using department-owned or research foundation owned computer equipment have access to the PC Repair center, where you can request help from your departmental Technology Coordinator for computer repairs.
Teaching with Technology
Faculty Technology Resources coordinates instructional technology resources and services for the University at Albany teaching community; providing a holistic approach to accessing teaching with technology tools.
