Whitney Brown - Class of 2011

"Go to MyInvolvement.org; Get and Internship""

Major: Business Administration – Marketing & Management
Minor: Spanish
Hometown: Middleburgh, NY

Whitney's advice:

Check out the flyer board on MyInvolvement.org! It's one of the best ways to stay current about what's happening on campus. Not only will you find information about student events being held on campus, but you will also find information about leadership positions, scholarships, and service opportunities.

Now that you know where to look for opportunities to get involved, one of the best things to do is to get an internship. To start, go to the Internship Expos! This will be one of your greatest opportunities to practice dressing up in business attire, introducing yourself to business professionals, handing out your résumé, and getting your name out there. Even if you aren't 100% certain about an internship, take advantage of interview opportunities. The more times you interview, the better prepared you will be when you discover that perfect job or internship. Often times Internship Expos will even introduce you to a new career path that you may not have previously considered or known existed.

"Off campus tip – use the commuter lounge"

If you are a commuter like me, you may be interested in knowing that lockers are available for commuting students in the Transfer & Commuter Lounge in the Campus Center, as well as in University Library. The University really does try to offer support for all its students.
