Important Information For Commuter Transfer Students

  • Check out The Driving Force, a student group for commuter and non-traditional students. Join through MyInvolvement.org to get email updates of what’s happening on campus, or check out meetings and activities on the bulletin board in the Transfer/Commuter Lounge in the Campus Center. You don’t need to be a member to attend events!

  • Don’t miss Welcome Week in the Transfer & Commuter Lounge located on the first floor of the Campus Center! Stop by Monday - Friday during the times designated below to meet current commuter and transfer students, learn about resources available to you, and enjoy a FREE beverage courtesy of Coca-Cola.

    • Tuesday – 11:45am – 1:05 pm
    • Wednesday – 11:30am – 12:25pm
    • Thursday – 1:15pm – 2:35pm
    • Friday – 12:35pm – 1:30pm
  • Access Library Software at home through the Virtual Information Commons online at www.albany.edu/its/virtic.htm
  • The UA Transfer Connections mentor program pairs new transfer students with a student or faculty mentor who can assist them throughout their first semester.     • Shabbat Services – Groups will leave from Indian and State Quad archways at 6:45 pm (services) and 7:45 pm (dinner). Look for students in Hillel T-shirts.
    • 7 pm Services
    • Reform and Conservative: Chapel House (across from SEFCU arena)
    • Orthodox: Shabbos House (316 Fuller Rd.)
    • 8 pm – Shabbat Dinner, Shabbos House
  • Saturday, August 29rd
    • 10 am – Shabbat Services (Orthodox) Chapel House
    • 12:20 pm – Shabbat Lunch, Shabbos House
  • Sunday, August 30th
    • 4:30 pm – Sundaes on Sunday, Come to the Chapel House and make your own sundae and meet the members of Cornerstone Campus Ministry (walking groups from Indian and State Quads at 4:20 pm).
    • 5 pm – Interdenominational Worship for Everyone, Chapel House (walking groups from Indian and State Quad at 4:45 pm)
    • 6 pm – Sunday Supper, Chapel House
    • 6:45 pm – Catholic Mass, Campus Center/Assembly Hall. Sponsored by the Newman Association, with food and social to follow.
  • Monday, August 31st
    • 6 pm - Hillel Kickoff B.B.Q., Chapel House. Free Kosher food, giveaways, games and more! Also a great opportunity to meet new people! Rain or shine.
