The Public Health Response to Terrorism: Past Experience & Future Challenges

Dale Morse, MD, MS, Director, Office of Science and Public Health, NYS Department of Health

Program Description:
Dr. Morse discusses the role of State, federal, and local public health agencies in emergency preparedness and response to major public health threats and disasters, including bio-terrorism. He describes the State's experience in responding to the World Trade Center disaster and anthrax threats, emphasizing the importance of strong planning, coordination and communication among all agencies involved. He also discusses response planning for future potential acts of bio-terrorism.
