Enhancing Prevention and Population Health Education

The goal of this project is to enhance and integrate prevention and population health education in educational programs for health professionals. This goal will be achieved by developing seven web-based modules which teach key concepts in clinical prevention and population health. Similar to the Teaching Immunizations in Medical Education (TIME) modules that are posted at the Preventive Education Resource Center (PERC) website, these population health modules will include ready-to-use materials that can be easily integrated into existing curricula.
This project is funded under a grant to the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University from the Association for Prevention Teaching and Research (APTR). CPHCE is working on this project with Brody and the Duke University School of Medicine. The modules, which should be available in 2011, are:

  • Population Health
  • Fundamentals of Epidemiology
  • Taking a Preventive History
  • Screening
  • Health Care System
  • Research to Practice
  • Outbreak Investigation and Disease Control (Pandemic Influenza)
