Basic Environmental Health Program (BEHP)
The Basic Environmental Health Program (BEHP) is an introductory training program designed to equip entry level environmental health personnel with the basic knowledge, skills and abilities needed to develop competency in their initial and future duties. The BEHP is recognized as the health training course approved by the State Health Department pursuant to Part 11 of the State Sanitary Code for individuals employed in Public Health Sanitarian and Technician titles in New York State.
There are no registration or tuition fees.
The next offering of the BEHP is expected to occur in the Fall of 2013 at the School of Public Health in Rensselaer, NY. The course has not yet been scheduled. Information will be posted as soon as it is available so please check back.
The Basic Environmental Health Program (BEHP) uses a blended learning approach which includes in-person classes, webinars, webcasts, online courses and field exercises. Although all individuals are welcome to complete any of these courses, first priority will be given to local and state health department personnel who are employed in Public Health Sanitarian and Technician titles. Other public health staff will be accepted on a space-available basis.
