Program Planning Sheet (MS Literacy Specialist B-6):

Note: be sure to download/print the latest planning sheet, dated 10/14/05

MS Literacy (B-6) Notes

What has remained the same in the B-6 Literacy program?

--the program still requires 30 credit hours for completion.

What has changed in the revised B-6 Literacy program?

--there are two course distribution requirements in the revised program plan:  Core Required Reading (now 21 credit hours) and Electives (now 9 credit hours);

--the Concentration requirement has been eliminated.  There is no need to designate a concentration in the revised B-6 program.

--two of the courses (ERDG 615 and ERDG 655) formerly listed as electives are now required in the revised program as Core Required Reading courses.

Which B-6 Literacy program plan should I follow?

--students entering the B-6 program after Fall, 2005 must follow the revised program plan.

--if you are nearing completion of your B-6 program, you might want to consider remaining with the program plan you have been following all along. However, your Concentration may be satisfied with existing concentration courses, or three electives.

--if you can add ERDG 615 and ERDG 655 to your existing course work without exceeding 30 credit hours, you may want to consider following the revised B-6 program. A decision to shift to the revised B-6 program plan should be discussed with your advisor.
