CONCENTRATION AREAS/ELECTIVE COURSES
(Updated 10/13/05)

Who should be reading this page?

If you are a matriculated student in any of our MS programs (MS Literacy, MS Reading), are you either are starting your program in Spring, 2006 or are using the new program planning sheets, you have NO concentration requirement. Feel free to browse this page, however, if you are looking for elective courses to satisfy specific needs.

If you are a matriculated student in Literacy Specialist B-6 or 5-12, Childhood Ed, Early Childhood, and Reading Classroom Track (on campus), and you're staying with the existing program planning sheet, then read on. Basically, you have three choices:

  • You may continue taking courses within a defined concentration area
  • You can convert this area into electives
  • You may also mix-and-match, by choosing courses within and across concentration areas
