Model, teach and have children practice generating, developing and expressing ideas in writing.

 

Provide regular opportunities for children to write across a wide range of topics, formats, and purposes.

  • Provide regular opportunities for children to write across a wide range of topics, formats, and purposes.
  • Provide regular opportunities at home and in school for children to write across a wide range of topics (e.g., from personal experiences, from their imagination, responding to stories, field trips, classroom/family activities, holidays, special events, current events, etc.)
  • Provide regular opportunities at home and in school for children to write in a variety of formats (e.g., journals, correspondence, lists, labels, class books, charts, poems, etc.)
  • Provide regular opportunities at home and in school for children to write for a variety of purposes (e.g., to tell stories, express feelings, share opinions, describe, to share information, to record data,.)
  • Provide regular opportunities at home and in school for children to write across a wide range of topics (e.g., from personal experiences, from their imagination, responding to stories, field trips, classroom/family activities, holidays, special events, current events, etc.)
  • Provide regular opportunities at home and in school for children to write in a variety of formats (e.g., journals, correspondence, lists, poems, labels, individual and class books, charts, etc.)
