  • Provide regular opportunities and appropriate purposes for children to speak to a variety of audiences.
 
  • Provide regular opportunities for children to engage in conversations with a variety of people (e.g., family members, friends, classmates, teachers, and other trusted adults)
  • Have children engage in speaking for different purposes (e.g., to tell a story, to show-and-tell, to ask for something, to clarify their thinking, to persuade, explain, or describe)
  • Have children engage in speaking to different sized audiences (one-to-one conversations, small group discussions, presentations to whole class, etc.)
  • Provide regular opportunities for children to engage in conversations with a variety of people (e.g., family members, friends, classmates, teachers, and other trusted adults)
  • Have children engage in speaking for different purposes (e.g., to tell a story, to show-and-tell, to ask for something, to clarify their thinking, to persuade, explain, or describe)
  • Have children engage in speaking to different sized audiences (one-to-one conversations, small group discussions, presentations to whole class, etc.)
  • Provide regular opportunities for children to engage in conversations with a variety of people (e.g., trusted adults, peers, and wider audiences such as senior citizens, government officials, etc.)
  • Have children engage in speaking for different purposes (e.g., to tell or retell  a story, to clarify their thinking, to adopt and defend a position, to persuade, explain, or describe, to interview, to make an oral report, etc.)
  • Have children engage in speaking to different sized audiences (e.g., one-to-one conversations, small group discussions, presentations to whole class or whole school via public address or assembly, etc.)
