Faculty/Staff
Zvi Gellis of the School of Social Welfare received the Outstanding Practice Research Award in December for his paper "Randomized Controlled Trial of Problem-Solving Therapy for Late Life Depression in Home Health Settings" at the fifth International Conference on Social Work in Health and Mental Health in Hong Kong, China. Gellis is director of the Center for Mental Health and Aging and an associate professor.
Byron
Produces Grammy-Nominated Album
Composer and arranger Don Byron, a visiting
associate professor of music who plays clarinet
and saxophone, is the producer of Edsel Gomez:
"Cubist Music" (Zoho Music), which has been
nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of
Best Latin Jazz Album. The 49th Annual Grammy
Awards ceremony is set for Feb. 11 at the
Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif.
School
of Ed Wins Technology Grant
The School of Education's Center for Innovation
in Career Development was awarded a $14,450
grant from The Community Foundation for the
Capital Region to develop further the Career
Profiles section of the
TechValleyCareers.org Web site. The online
resource for educators and their families is
designed to provide resources and information
about science, technology, engineering and
mathematics developments and innovations taking
place in the greater Capital Region.
IFW
Accepting Award Applications
Initiatives For Women ((IFW) is accepting
applications for IFW awards through Feb. 16. The
applications are available online and are to
be submitted along with the online eligibility
form.
IFW awards, generally between $250 and $2,500, support educational and career opportunities for women students, faculty, and staff. Last year IFW granted 45 awards totaling $30,700. For more information, contact Sydney K. Allen or Donna C. LaHue.
