There have been three off-campus robberies, the last involving a university student as the victim, in the Pine Hills neighborhood in the past three weeks reported to the police in the City of Albany. The first robbery took place at 3:40 a.m. on July 13th in front of 215 Quail Street involving a female victim, who was hit in the head and robbed of money. The second robbery occurred on July 24th at 3:45 a.m. in front of 702 State Street involving a male victim who suffered facial injuries and was robbed of jewelry and money. The third robbery took place on July 25th at 2:00 a.m. in front of 215 Quail Street and involved a female university student victim robbed of a credit card, money and checks.
As part of the University Police Department's on-going crime prevention effort, if you are out at night, whether off-campus or on, please keep in mind the following safety precautions:
- Travel in groups
- Be aware of your surroundings and those around you
- Avoid isolated areas and dark places
- Walk in well lighted areas
- If possible, keep a cell phone handy in case of emergencies
