1. Logo/Signature and Global
Navigation Banner Area
This area contains the University at Albany
web logo signature for your Center. Non-Affiliated
Centers & Institutes may request the web
logo signature image by contacting Fred Doyle
in Creative Services at fdoyle@uamail.albany.edu or (518)442-3674.
The UAlbany Center logo signature must
appear across the top of the page using the
exact code as implemented in the web templates.
In addition, the image should include an alt
tag and a link to the Center home page.
There are three global navigation buttons
for "UAlbany Home", "UAlbany
Site Index" and "UAlbany Search".
The code and images should not be altered
in any way.
2. Center Left Navigation and
Photo Area
The navigation area is present on the left
section of every page and should include the
site's primary navigation including
a "HOME" button at the top.
The left navigation text may be customized
to your site by highlighting the text "LEFT
NAV BUTTON" and typing the applicable
text over it (Note: Do not type over any of
the spaces after the text or you may delete
some of the style code). The left navigation
includes .css code to produce the correct
font as well as a red rollover image when
the viewer hovers over the button.
The red rollover image should appear on
page the user is currently viewing. This is
accomplished by applying the ".leftnav_breadcrumb"
style to the left navigation cell.
For additional organization of the left
navigation area there are sub-navigation and
sectional navigation button
styles available.
The photo above the left navigation buttons
may be customized to your site and should
include an alt tag. The dimensions are 161
x 128 pixels. (The 128 pixel height is flexible
but the width must remain 161 pixels to maintain
the format of the page).
Icons or images may be placed below the
left navigation area for additional customization
and to highlight programs or special features
of your site. Be sure to include an alt tag
on any images.
3. Main Content Area
This area contains the main content of the
page. Utilize the headings shown in the style
sheet documentation to segment the text.
The
heading at the top of the page should match
the left navigation button for that page. Photos, images and color blocks may
be included to customize the page and supplement
the written material. Photos should be optimized
for the web and have a white, 2 pixel border
(apply the .wborderfull2px style from the .css).
Your center's contact information should
be substituted at the bottom of the page.
4. Secondary Content Area (third
column - optional)
The UAlbany web templates are available in
a two column and three column formats. The optional
"third column" allows for secondary
content such as news, announcements, events
or additional navigation.
5. Footer Global Navigation
Area
The footer area contains links to the University's
primary global navigation. The code text and
links in this area should not be altered.
