Justice & Multiculturalism in the 21st Century
Through this project, the School of Criminal Justice will engage the campus and local communities in an exploration of the intersections of social justice and criminal justice in an increasingly diverse society. In our first year, project activities will include a film series (presented in collaboration with the New York State Writers Institute), a speaker series, a faculty speakers bureau, a pilot mentoring program for local high school students, and a writing competition for undergraduate students. Year one of the project will be capped with a Spring Symposium in April 2013.

Justice & Multiculturalism Spring Symposium
Explorations in Justice: Gender, Sexuality and Violence
April 25 & 26, 2013
The specific objective of the Spring Symposium is to develop a better understanding of intersections of justice with gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, and/or gender as they pertain to violence and violent victimization.
We are still accepting abstracts for panel presentations!
Call for Abstracts Scholars, practitioners, and graduate students are invited to submit abstracts for empirical papers in these areas. Panels will include a discussant and three papers that (to the extent possible) share a common theme. Given the limited number of panels, abstracts will be reviewed by a selection committee, and selected authors invited to present their work at the Symposium. The selection committee will look for high-quality papers that make original contributions to the field. Abstract review will begin on Friday, January 25.
Undergraduate Student Paper Competition The Justice & Multiculturalism in the 21st Century project invites submissions to the Undergraduate Student Paper Competition. A brief statement of intent is appreciated, so that we can estimate how many papers to expect for judging. Paper submissions are due by February 1, 2013.
More event information is coming soon!
