The Central Albany Bikeway

From the 2008 student studio, the Central Albany Bikeway is a concept for a continuous bicycle and pedestrian corridor down the east-west spine of the city of Albany.  The plan proposes a bikeway from beyond the western end of Albany at UAlbany Nanotech all the way east to the river front at the Corning Preserve.  Making the link between increases in transportation choices and quality of life, the Central Albany Bikeway seeks to identify a preferred route for a designated bicycle boulevard to run on existing streets and new infrastructure.

In addition to the bikeway, students came up with the concept of a roundabout at a major intersection near the SUNY Albany Campus- an improvement that has since become a reality.
