Peggy Giordano 7th Annual Michael J. Hindelang Lecturer
The Hindelang Criminal Justice Research Center will hold its 7th Annual Michael J. Hindelang Lecture on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 from 12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m. in Richardson Hall, Room 002. Dr. Peggy C. Giordano, Ph.D., is a Distinguished Research Professor, Department of Sociology, Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, OH. Her lecture is "Legacies of Crime: Mechanisms Underlying Intergenerational Transmission."
Lizotte Reappointed As Executive Director of Hindelang Center
After being nominated and re-elected as the Hindelang Center's new Executive Director by the Hindelang Board of Directors, Alan J. Lizotte has been reappointed for a three-year term effective September 1, 2007. Professor Lizotte is Co-Principal Investigator of the Rochester Youth Development Study (RYDS).
Rochester Youth Development Study Receives CDC Grant
Principal Investigator Marvin D. Krohn, along with Co-Principal Investigators Alan J. Lizotte and Shawn D. Bushway, have received funding for two years on a new CDC project "Examining Protective Factors for Youth Violence within a Developmental Framework." This research project began 9/15/07 and will study the factors that protect youth from violent behavior, and the mechanisms through which protection continues.
