Collaborative Crime Analysis Project (CCAP)
Robert E. Worden
The Collaborative Crime Analysis Project (CCAP) provides analytical support for strategic crime-reduction in selected cities in New York State. CCAP is funded by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), and operates in conjunction with another State initiative, Operation IMPACT (Integrated Municipal Police Anti-Crime Teams), which provides funding for strategic crime-reduction interventions by multi-agency task forces in each of fifteen jurisdictions across New York State. CCAP affords a research partner to each of the selected jurisdictions; the research partner role is to assist with crime analysis and the development (and refinement) of a data-driven strategy for crime reduction, and also to monitor the implementation and short-term impacts of the strategy, and evaluate its effectiveness. In addition, CCAP provides for a cross-site analysis of the nature of the crime problems addressed, of the strategic problem-solving processes, and of the impacts of the interventions on crime, along with an assessment of the adequacy of the information systems for supporting strategic problem-solving.
