Electric vehicle at UAlbany

UAlbany's very own electric vehicle that's used
by Facilities Management.

Each day thousands of faculty, staff, and students commute to UAlbany's Main, Downtown, and East campuses; many of them travel alone. Improving transportation efficiency is consistent with UAlbany's commitment to environmental stewardship. Since transportation is a significant source of air pollution and contributes to climate change, it is absolutely vital that colleges and universities examine the environment impacts that result from commuting to and from campus.

This web page recaps some of the initiatives and projects specifically targeting transportation at UAlbany.

Initiatives & Projects

Energy Campaign UAlbany's Purple Path
In 2007, the University at Albany began construction on the Purple Path. The multi-use path concept that will promote sustainability and pedestrian walkways was developed by the Purple Path Planning Studio with the guidance of Jeffery Olson who is an adjunct professor in the Department of Geography and Planning

Zipride Zipride ridesharing program
UAlbany faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to car-pool; Zipride is a website that makes it easy to coordinate rides.
Users must sign on using their @albany.edu or @uamail.albany.edu e-mail address to register on the website, thus restricting access to only members of the UAlbany community.

Transportation Study Understanding Commuter Patterns & Behavior
The NYS Energy Research and Development Authority along with Department of Transportation is funding a transportation grant that will research alternative methods of transportation and identify the vehicle patterns of our community members.

UAlbany Bus Ride
UAlbany buses provide transportation for students, faculty and staff to and from campus and the downtown Albany area. Watch the UAlbany bus tour on youtube.
