Sustain 2009 - Earth Day

Wednesday, April 22nd: All Earth Day events will take place in the Campus Center Assembly Hall and Fireside Lounge.

9:00 AM - Exhibit Tables Open & Welcoming

Exhibitors include: Interfaith Power & Light, Honest Weight Food Coop, Pine Bush Discovery Center, Old Songs, NYPIRG, UAlbany Students for Sustainability, Workforce Development Institute and the New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation

10:00 AM - Session 1: Go on a Carbon Diet

Roundtable Discussion on Your Carbon Footprint. Learn how to calculate your carbon footprint, the importance of reducing it and ways you can lower it.

Panelists include:

  • Rick Tuers, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation
  • Jodi Smits Anderson, DASNY
  • Professor George Robinson, SUNY Albany Biology
  • Professor Andrei Lapenas, SUNY Albany Geography & Planning
  • Mary Ellen Mallia, Director of Environmental Sustainability

12:00 PM - Key Note Speaker - Alan Belensz, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Office of Climate Change

The live webcast will be delivered in the Assembly Hall. Mr. Belensz's engaging presentation will be on Climate Change and the New Energy Economy - The Challenge of Our Generation.

Water Footprint workshop hosted by Kathy Macri, Interagency Policy Coordinator and Corporate Sustainability Officer, New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation (NYSEFC)

2:00 PM - Session 3: The Green Economy
Panel Discussion on green jobs hosted by Penny Hill, Regional Director at the Workforce Development Institute.
