UAlbany Goes Green!
Save Energy

Did you know the University at Albany spends over $15 million in utility costs in one year? The University's Plant Department has been actively engaged for many years in improving our university's energy efficiency and local environment. In 1999 a non-government organization, SCORECARD, rated the level of atmospheric pollution in UAlbany campus as being among the "Cleanest/Best facilities in the US". This has been done with engineering skill and effective use of grants from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and other agencies.

Efforts to save energy at such a large institution would be impossible without a sustained effort from many different groups. By working together, the university community can continue to improve efficiency and help UAlbany Go Green! What can you do to save energy?

In the weeks to come, the Save Energy page will have tips on how to save energy for students, and an environmental carbon footprint calculator.
