Bikeable UAlbany is an ongoing initiative to transform the University at Albany into a more bike-friendly campus. There are many offices around the campus that are driving this initiative such as the offices of Parking and Mass Transit Services, Environmental Sustainability, Campus Planning, Campus Recreation, Residential Life, the University Police Department, Facilities Management, and Grounds. Below are bicycle resources for students, faculty, and/or staff.

UAlbany Bike Share

The University at Albany offers a FREE bikeshare service to undergraduate residential students. The bikes are located in the Wellness Centers of Indian, Colonial, and Alumni Quad. Talk to your Wellness Assistants to learn how to sign-out a bike for the day! You can visit the Bike Share Program webpage to learn more.

Personal Bike Registration

If you bring your personal bike to campus, be sure to take a step to prevent theft. Fill out a bike registration form to ensure that your bike is registered with the Parking and Mass Transit free of charge!

Bike Fix-It Station

In a jam and need to quickly fix your bike? Visit the Bike Fix-It Station on Colonial Quad on the corner by the parking lot. The fix-it station is FREE and equipped with a bike-stand, a tire air pump, and essential tools, such as screwdrivers, wrenches and levers. Four additional Bike Fix-It Stations are being added to the campus. Check out the map to locate upcoming stations!

Purple Path

With the help of a few UAlbany Master's in Regional Planning students, the University at Albany is in the process of transforming the Uptown Campus into safer campus for bicyclists and pedestrians. Click here to view an updated map of the completed sections of the Purple Path.

"End of Trip" Facilities

End of Trip Facilities are provided for bicyclists in all newly renovated and constructed buildings at the University at Albany. These buildings include University Hall, the School of Business, Liberty Terrace, the Data Center, and Husted Hall.

Bicycle Parking

The University at Albany is in the process of replacing and adding new bicycle racks all over campus. Click here for an updated description of the current available bike racks for bicyclists. Here is a plan for the replacement and installation of old and new bike racks. Be sure to register your bike for free with Parking and Mass Transit Services to help prevent theft!

Bikeable Bus

Did you know that you can bike and bus with UAlbany Shuttle and CDTA buses? Bike racks are available on the front of Bikeable Buses to provide an environmentally-conscious and safe alternative transportation option. Click here to learn more about how to load and unload bikes on buses.

Albany Bicycle Coalition

The Albany Bicycle Coalition is determined to promote bicycling for alternative transportation and recreational purposes in the Capital Region. This group of dedicated bicyclists advocate for a more bike-friendly Capital District by implementing bike lanes, driver education, bike stations and parking, and road improvements. The Albany Bike Rescue hosts community bike repair and educational workshops at the Trinity Institution. The New York Bicycling Coalition offers bicycle safety workshops.
