Generic Environmental Impact Statement (GEIS) &

Supplemental Generic Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS)

The University completed a "Generic Environmental Impact Statement" (GEIS) process, consistent with the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA), as a necessary precursor to planned/contemplated construction and development on the Uptown Campus. As required by the GEIS process, the University studied potential material impacts on land, air, water, noise, traffic, aesthetics, etc. as a result of future construction. The process is outlined in statute and regulation and was completed March 2010.

In the further development of the Capital Project Plan and the specific projects included in it, changes have been proposed that have the potential for environmental impact and warrant additional review. The action constitutes a Type I action (6 NYCRR Part 617.4) with respect to SEQRA, and the University at Albany, SUNY will prepare a Draft Supplemental Generic Environmental Impact Statement (DGSEIS) for this action.
