Heritage Preservation

Overview

The Office of Campus Planning (OCP) leads the University at Albany in the responsibility for heritage preservation for its three campuses. With consultation of the University’s planning, architectural, and aesthetics advisory committee, guidance for preservation related decisions is provided. Several buildings on the Downtown and Uptown campuses have been determined to be eligible for Listing on the New York State and National Registers of Historic Places, under several categories including architecture, education, landscape, social history, and association with prominent historic individuals. OCP regularly partners with the New York State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) on UAlbany’s campus planning and restoration efforts.
