  • Power to SBA & SBA Annex will be temporarily interrupted from 6:00 am to 7:00 am on Tuesday, May 20 to connect to a temporary power feed
  • Power to SBA & SBA Annex will be temporarily interrupted between 7:00 am to 7:30 am on Thursday, May 22 for approximately 10 minutes to re-connect to the normal power feed
For occupants in SBA & SBA Annex, it is requested that computers are powered down at close of business the day before these interruptions (COB Monday, May 19 & Wednesday, May 21)

During the power interruption to the Power Plant, there will be no heating, domestic hot water, and air conditioning services provided from the Plant to uptown campus buildings, excluding those areas that are serviced by local stand-alone systems.

The temporary fuse to restore power to UHALL will be replaced along with the 2 other fuses that protect the 120 volt power distribution panel. A two-hour window has been provided in case unforeseen issues arise. Lighting, heat and the elevator will remain operating during this period. The only effect will be on 120 volt distribution system. Nothing plugged into the wall will operate during this period, including computers. All computers should be shut down properly the night before to prevent any issues. The Business Building temporary power feed from UHALL will be off during this period as well.

The work will create very little disruption, greatly improve flow rates and reduce the likelihood of future pipe failures.

Collins Circle: New parking lots have been constructed at the east and west lobes of Collins Circle. Spring work at these loactions will include the installation of final landscaping and irrigation, in addition to final paving, striping and finishing of sidewalks. A new bus shelter will be installed at the west lobe lot. The existing bus shelter located at the east lobe of Collins Circle will remain in service during this phase of work.

Colonial Quad: Seeding and final grading will be installed at the east, north and west sides of the building. The Colonial Quad loading dock will receive pavement repair as a result of work associated with this project.

Classroom Renovations - Asbestos Abatement

In conjunction with classroom renovation work, asbestos abatement will take place in SS 255 and 256 beginning January 3 and continuing through January 12. The bulk of the work will be done during off hours and there will be changes to access and egress on the second floor, north side of the Social Science building, during those times. There will be evidence of wood and plastic enclosures at the room entrances and an occasional orange citrus odor associated with cleansers. Additional asbestos abatement work will take place at select mixing boxes located in the tunnel below Social Science.
