Professor and Chair of the Department of Educational Administration and Policy Studies, Alan Wagner returned to the School of Education in 2001 after nearly 14 years with the Paris-based Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). While at the OECD, he was responsible for comparative work supporting policy development within the 30 advanced, market-economy, democratic countries in the OECD area as well as the Russian Federation and P.R.China. An economist with particular interest in tertiary education policies, he is co-author of the OECD's most recent comparative report in this field, Redefining Tertiary Education. He served as co-ordinator and contributing author for the OECD's annual Education Policy Analysis, and he has written and submitted statements to national commissions and public bodies on education governance, financing learning, school effectiveness and improvement, diversity in schools and teacher policies.
