Barbara Nagler (Ed.D. in Educational Administration from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst) serves as Service Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Administration and Policy Studies.  Dr. Nagler joined the department after 30 years of experience in K-12 public education.  She served as a special education teacher, chair of the committee on special education, director of special programs, elementary principal, superintendent of schools and recently retired from the position of district superintendent of the Capital Region Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES).  In addition, Dr. Nagler has been directly involved in the creation and development of three different alternative schools, most recently and notably Tech Valley High School in Rensselaer County. Her research interest include school leadership, the challenges associated with the preparation of school administrators, the possible impact of administrators on student achievement as well as more general issues related to teaching and learning.
