HEINZ-DIETER MEYER (Ph.D. Cornell University, M.A. Sociology Goettingen University) Associate Professor, was Sidney Harman Fellow at the Kennedy School for Government, Harvard University, and a visiting professor at Penn State University. His main interests are culture, institutions and management in comparative perspective. He has also worked on intercultural communication and conflict resolution. on organizational administration, especially education. He has also worked on intercultural communication and conflict resolution. His work appeared in Organization Science, the Journal of Education Administration, European Journal of Management, International Sociology, Zeitschrift fuer Paedagogik, among others. He is the (co-)editor of several books, most recently Education between Government, Markets, and Civil Society (Erlbaum). His book "Culture and the Structure of Education-American and German Paths to Educational Innovation and Stagnation" is forthcoming at the University Press of the State University of New York. Before joining SUNY Albany, Dr. Meyer taught at the European Institute of Business Administration (INSEAD), in Fontainebleau, France, and the University of Goettingen, Germany.
