Financial Aid
Students can get financial aid through either loans or assistantships and fellowships. Loans are Federal Stafford Loans and are either subsidized or unsubsidized. A "Free Application for Federal Student Aid" (FAFSA) can be obtained at any local college or university. New York State residents must also fill out a Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) application to be eligible. Questions on loans should be directed to:
Office of Financial Aid
Campus Center B-52
Albany, NY 12222
(518) 442-5757 or 5480
Assistantships and Fellowships
Graduate fellowships and assistantships are available to qualified students enrolled full-time in graduate study for up to $10,000 per academic year plus tuition waiver. Assistantships and fellowships must be reapplied for each March. A copy of the EAPS department application form can be found in the Forms section.
Depending in the amount of the stipend, students holding assistantships are expected to devote 15-20 hours a week to their assistantship duties. Duties may include teaching, research, or administration and are expected to contribute to academic development. Graduate assistants may not be employed in other capacities in or outside the University while holding an assistantship.
Other Sources of Aid
Students are also encouraged to seek other grant sources from resources such as The Foundation Directory. Grant resource books are available in most public or college library reference sections.
