Full Information Product Pricing (FIPP) Networks designate non-traditional relationship networks between producer and consumer that are used to convey non-price related product information in order to add value for the customers. For example, a growing number of “artisan”, “Fair Trade”, and “green” consumers and producers are increasingly paying attention to information about where, when, how, and by whom our food, consumer, and durable goods are produced. This information is conveyed from producer to consumer through certifiable labels such as “organic” or “Fair Trade” or by documentation accompanying the products.
The North American Digital Government Working Group is investigating the prospect of using information systems to enhance and expand FIPP Networks. While work on this task is in its early stages, the presentation will include a case study and accompanying dynamic model aimed at evaluating the feasibility of and developing a strategy for leveraging technology to strengthen these networks.
