Police Domestic Violence Follow-up Home Visiting Program
CHSR worked with the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence (OPDV) to provide information on how 11 grant-funded police departments across New York State designed and implemented a domestic violence home visiting program. The grants were awarded by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS).
Evaluation & Research
CHSR interviewed police officers and domestic violence advocates in all 11 jurisdictions to gather their perspectives on the program model, changes in practice, cross-agency collaboration, changes in relationships with victims, impact on victims’ attitudes or behaviors, and the effect on criminal justice outcomes. Interviews were conducted in-person and over the phone. CHSR analyzed and summarized the interview data, highlighting key themes and providing recommendations based on the findings. The results of the study were shared in a research brief.
