New Freshman Academic Advisement

Welcome to the Advisement Center

  • The academic advisors in the Advisement Services Center welcome you to the University at Albany. It is our mission to help you get started on the right path at the University to achieve your academic and career goals. Your advisor will guide and mentor you through your first few semesters at the University until you declare a major.

  • We pride ourselves on being student-friendly and we encourage you to maintain close contact with us throughout your years at UAlbany. You will meet your academic advisor for the first time when you attend the Planning Conference.

  • This web site is designed to help you choose the appropriate academic pathway in your first semester at the University at Albany. It is essential that you follow all of the instructions on this site. It will take at least 1 hour to complete.

These web pages will lead you through

  • learning about your academic requirements

  • choosing the right courses for your first semester

  • communicating those choices to us and

  • assembling other important academic information for your meeting with your advisor.
