For areas in the health field, you may select any major available to you at the university if you are interested in eventually applying to a health profession school. The Joint Degree 7-Year Program with SUNY Optometry and the Joint Degree 7-Year Program with Boston University Dental School require a B.S. in Biology. All pre-health students must complete prerequisite courses. It takes at least two years (sometimes three) to complete the required courses that are listed by semester below. Those appearing in [brackets] are strongly recommended. The science courses have three lecture hours and either a two- or three- hour lab each week. A pre-health committee interview will not be scheduled until the student has completed Organic Chemistry 1 and 2 including the labs. |

NOTE: A Phy
140 & A PHY 150 may be substituted IF they are required by your major. In
that case, they should be completed in the semesters that are recommended
by your major department instead. Please note that a few schools require two semesters of calculus. A few schools also do not accept AP credits to fulfill the above course requirements. This suggested curriculum includes the basic requirements for all medical/health professional schools. If you are planning to pursue a degree at a specific school, you should check on it's exact requirements. Printable version (pdf format) |
